Recommendations and Results

Recommendations

This study recommend some important points which should be given more attention when translating the Holy Qur`an

  • Novel translators of the Holy Qur`an should be acquainted with the studies which have investigated the problems that may face translators of the Holy Qur`an. These studies should present the required knowledge to help translators recognize such problems and in often they suggest alternative renditions to overcome these problems especially if we remember that most of these studies refer to different exegeses of the Holy Qur`an to define the intended meaning.
  • Translators, should, in order to know the intended meaning of the verses of the Holy Qur`an refer to some well – known commentary books and refer to the exegeses of the Holy Qur`an
  • Translators should avoid translating synecdoche literally, as this would lead either to meaning loss or to distortion of the message of the Holy Qur`an
  • Translators of the Holy Qur`an also should give priority to meaning if it does not correspond with the English style. Translators sometimes focus on the style at the expense of meaning.

There is a need to investigate how the Jihad verses are rendered into English since most of Jihad verses, as shown in this study, are rendered literally. The literal translation can function in ways to serve the aims of the enemies of the Holy Qur`an who want to show the Holy Qur`an before the whole world as a source of violence.
